Great Decisions Program Underway at Tahlequah, Muskogee Libraries

Great Decisions is an annual program that is hailed as America’s premier discussion program on global affairs. Each year, there are eight topics chosen by a panel of experts. Those participating will watch an expert present material on the selected topic and then discuss these critical issues.

What are your thoughts on the US and China trade policies? What do you think of NATO and its purpose in the world? How will we prepare for the next pandemic? All of these questions will be discussed at length. Who knows? We might find some answers! There are a limited number of discussion guides available as well for those who wish to participate.

We kicked off the program by discussing the Mideast Realignment on February 1 and will continue on selected Thursdays at 6 p.m. through April 4. Below is a complete schedule of the remaining discussions:

  • February 15 — Climate Technology
  • February 22 — Science Across Borders
  • February 29 — US-China Trade Rivalry
  • March 7 — NATO’s Future
  • March 21 — Understanding Indonesia
  • March 28 — High Seas Treaty
  • April 4 — Pandemic Preparedness

You can also participate online with the new Great Decisions Beanstack challenge found at eols.beanstack.org. Participate in research, programs, and activities on each of the topics at your leisure!

Muskogee Public Library is also hosting Great Decisions this year, so if you miss a session at Tahlequah, you are welcome to go over there anytime, too.

Muskogee sessions begin at 7 p.m. and the dates are:

  • February 15 — Mideast Realignment
  • February 22 — Understanding Indonesia
  • February 29 — Climate Technology and Competition
  • March 7 — Science Across Borders
  • March 14 — Pandemic Preparedness
  • March 21 — NATO’s Future
  • March 28 — U.S.-China Trade Rivalry

However you choose to participate, we look forward to hearing from you!
