StoryWalk® combines family time, physical activity, and literacy in a fun, interactive walk in nature. Through this experience, we hope to encourage a lifelong love of reading, physical activity, and the great outdoors! StoryWalk® is a health literacy initiative of the Eastern Oklahoma Library System and is sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Oklahoma State Department of Health, and Institute of Museum and Library Services. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
Five branches of the Eastern Oklahoma Library System have permanent StoryWalk® installations: Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library, Eufaula Memorial Library, Muskogee Public Library, Muldrow Public Library, and Stilwell Public Library. Others have special StoryWalk® events and hang their pages along downtown business windows, including Grove Public Library, Delaware County Library, and Tahlequah Public Library. Follow their Facebook pages for Downtown StoryWalk® dates.
All are a great way to spend quality time with family and friends, get outside, and engage in some light exercise. We hope you’ll love StoryWalk® and visit often to find new books.
