Eastern Oklahoma Library System Completes Technology Improvements at Six Community Libraries

The Eastern Oklahoma Library System is pleased to announce the completion of important network infrastructure improvements at library branches serving Eufaula, Checotah, Westville, Fort Gibson, Haskell, and Hulbert.

The improvements were completed in August 2025 with support from a Category Two E-Rate LSTA Grant administered by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. Each of the six participating library locations was rewired to improve its internal network infrastructure. Eufaula Memorial Library, Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library, John F. Henderson Public Library in Westville, Q.B. Boydstun Library in Fort Gibson, and Rieger Memorial Library in Haskell also received new network cabinets.

These behind-the-scenes improvements help create a more dependable foundation for the technology, internet access, digital resources, and public services community members use at their local libraries.

The Category Two–E-Rate grant program assists eligible libraries with the non-discounted portion of purchases for internal network equipment. Through technology and digital literacy initiatives, federal and state library funding helps libraries strengthen broadband infrastructure, address technology challenges in public buildings, expand access to digital services, and better connect residents with information and learning opportunities.

The Eastern Oklahoma Library System is grateful for the investment in these six communities and for the continued support of technology access in rural Oklahoma libraries.
