14 Aug After Summer Break, There’s Still Plenty to do at Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library

It is hard to believe that it is already back-to-school time again. Even though summer break is winding down, there are still a lot of reasons to come visit your Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library.

August is National Dog Month. Come check out our media display featuring man’s best friend. Take home a classic or find something new that will have your tail wagging.

At 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday in August, we will be hosting Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) classes. These low-impact exercises are designed to help with balance and mobility. You do not need previous experience, and you do not need to sign up in advance.

Every third Thursday of the month, we have book club here at the library. At 2 p.m. Aug. 15, we will be featuring Table for Two by Amor Towles. Come join us for some light snacks and lively discussion.

Role playing games have never been more popular. If you have wanted to try one out, then join us on Fridays for Dungeons and Dragons. The young-adult game is at 2 p.m., and the teen game is at 4:30 p.m.

At 5 p.m. Aug. 27, we will have our monthly Pinterest party. This month we will be making a magnetic message board. Registration is required. Come by and talk to one of our friendly library workers, or give us a call.

If you have not been to our library in a while, come check out some of the new items that we have available for you. We have board games, video games, and guitars to name a few.

Last but not least, come in and welcome our new librarian, Erikah. They are already bringing creative ideas to our programs for children and teens. We are very excited to have them here.

As you can see, the library is so much more than books. Come by and discover what your local library has to offer. We can’t wait to see you.
