28 Oct Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library Offering Fun Game Nights for International Games Month
Before long, temperatures will start dropping and fall will be here, but it is already spooky season here at Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library. We have fun programs and events planned for the whole family, so grab something pumpkin-spiced (even it has to be on ice), and come join us.
During story time on Halloween day, Miss Beth will be reading from some fun books about monsters, and the kiddos will be making monster masks. Storytime is Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. for toddlers and 1:00 p.m. for big kids.
On Halloween evening, we will be downtown in Checotah from 5:30-7:30 p.m. handing out goodies and information about library programs and activities. Come see us and tell us about your favorite scary story. We will be the ones dressed like “Lord of the Rings” characters.
November is International Games Month. This celebration is a chance to connect people with the library through various types of games and to remind people of the educational, social, and recreational value of games. Your Checotah library will be planning game nights, participating with other branches for game-related activities, and hosting its second Pokémon tournament.
International Games Month would also be a great time to come check out our board game collection or join us for a game of Dungeons and Dragons. Come talk to one of our friendly staff members for more information about any of our programs or items available for check out.
While there is a lot of new fun in store, we still have the following programs every week: Healthy Living on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., GED classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m. (call for enrollment details), and S.A.I.L. classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m.
As you can see, the library is so much more than books. Come by and discover what your local library has to offer. We can’t wait to see you.
