18 Dec Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library is Offering Great Activities During the Holidays
Tis the season at your Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library. As we approach a new year, the nights grow longer and colder. Time spent with our loved ones is all the more important. In that spirit, come spend time with your library family this December.
At 3 p.m. Monday, December 18, we will be kicking things off for our holiday fun with a story-meets-STEM activity: How to Catch a Reindeer. Come listen to Miss Beth read from the book and then put your engineering skills to the test as you create a trap to capture an elusive reindeer.
Our winter reading challenge begins on Thursday, December 21 and will continue through Wednesday, January 31. We will have Bingo cards with fun winter reading activities for all ages. Those who finish the reading challenge will be entered in a drawing for prizes.
At 10 a.m., Thursday, December 21 we will show a movie about a famous snowman with a magical top hat. We will have popcorn and drinks, and we will also build a snowman craft.
Come join us at 2 p.m., Friday, December 22 for an ugly sweater party and special performance. Pull out your ugliest sweater, come on down, and enjoy a performance of “Five Ways to Survive the Holidays” by the Eufaula Performing and Arts Club.
While we have a lot of festive activities to scratch that holiday itch, we also have some of our normal activities happening during December as well.
Come join Stephanie with Muddy Boots Line Dancing at 5 p.m., Tuesday, December 19 as we have our last class of the year. No experience necessary. Just jump in and have some fun.
Every Friday at 2 p.m. (with the exception of December 29) our teen tabletop role playing group meets. Make new friends and take on the role of a brave adventurer as we play the world’s most popular role playing game.
As you can see, the library is so much more than books. Come by and discover what your local library has to offer. We can’t wait to see you.
